This summer I've read classics such as Pride and Prejudice and more current books like A Walk Across the Sun. Both of these were great reads. I usually have three books going at once: I am reading through the Bible, a history book and a Fiction book. The fiction book rotates very quickly, but I've been reading the Bible for several months and am only 29% of the way through. The history book I am reading currently is a large one and will take several months to finish.
I generally have several books going at the same time. I am reading 'A Deceit to Die for' by Luke Montgomery - a mystery of current world affairs, a page turner.
Several at a time. I'm doing research for a Civil War novel, so I've been reading both nonfiction and fiction on the subject. I'm currently reading "Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty," along with my friend Sarah Sundin's latest WWII novel, "With Every Letter."
I usually have a few going at a time. This summer I read Les Miserables, in anticipation of the movie coming out in December. Most recently I read Death Comes to Pemberley (which was just ok), and N.D. Wilson's children's book The Dragon's Tooth, which was excellent. Right now I'm reading Life at the Bottom by Theodore Dalrymple.
I'm working my way through The Gospel Driven Life by Michael Horton. It's his follow up to Christless Christianity. And finally going through C.S. Lewis' The Weight of Glory and Other Addresses, for the first time. I am really enjoying both of those books. And I think I'm going to try finishing Grudem's Systematic Theology before the year ends and leave it at that for 2012 since it'll take me some time to mull over some things.
