Grace's parents...

They were unreasonable and inconsistent. I found them flat and a plot device just to keep Sam and Grace's love "star-crossed". I'm not a fan of them
They're the definition of SUCKY
it's like they have a multiple personality disorder...at first they didn't care about grace and then they did everything they could to keep her away from sam...
i agree with you guys to an extent but remember that it's kind of the key part to a lot of these types of stories. the lead female has to be somewhat on her own to become stronger than even she realizes - and then to be faced with whatever it is. this is no different because it's only after her parents realize that they're a little too uninvolved that things happened even if they were completely unrelated. she would have met him anyway - that's clear as day to me.

I totally agree with you Ilana. It's a big key to making her stronger and a fighter. Part of being a strong female lead is the opportunity and motivation to make the big decisions for herself.

yep, I too hated her parents. They were so busy with their own lives what gives them the right to suddenly decide to be parents or to act like parents? Besides that, she's nearly of age by the end of the book, if I recall correctly.
It was so out of nowhere. I was like "No please! Don't take Sam! There not actually doing anything... except that one time..."
i hated her parents!!they were sooo annoying!!!
at times i wnated to tear the book in half thats how annoyed i got with them!!! -_-

I like grace's mother because at the end she cared for her daughterHer father I hate with all that I have
they are terrible people. they pretty much ignore their daughter most of her life, she almost dies because they are idiots and left her in a car. and then she finds sam, and he makes her happy and cares for her so that for the first time in her life someone other than herself is looking out for her, and they're just like, "oh, our daughter is going to get her poor childish heart broken, and besides how serious can this be anyways???" when they for once pay attention to her.then her dad goes and punches sam in the nose, and they replace her.
with a cat.
and honestly i love cats but they are not a replacement for a child.
anyways her parents are stupid idiots who should have put their child up for adoption by a decent family when she was like 2.

Yeah Grace's parents I would say were the irresponsible ones here in this story. She is living in their house with a boy and they have no clue.. This scenerio in this book did not seem impossible to me, but it was just sad. What's really sad is that these type of parents actually do exist. I remember being friends with alot of kids whose parents' were just absent. They were more passionate about their work, their social lives, making more money that they didn't need etc.. and they were barely present in their child's life. They barely knew who their children were.
I guess they thought that since they weren't babies anymore that all they needed was a roof over their heads, things they needed to live, and some of the things that they wanted, that by giving them these things that their job was done. And that's ridiculous and sad. But what I did notice that my friends who had this type of home life, they were the ones who were very mature for their ages, they stayed out of trouble. And they ultimately knew who they were and what they wanted. And I did see alot of these qualities in Grace's character.
But sadly not all kids who have this home life are that mature.
I hated Grace's parents. Esp, her dad. He's such a jerk and wouldn't even let Grace nor Sam get a word in when they were trying to explain. If I was in her situation I would have left long ago. They treated her invisible like and then all of a sudden when Grace is sick BADLY.. Then they want to be the parents and treat grace like a child, I couldn't believe it..
Graces parents. . .I can't even express my anger. . .just. . .ugh!
Grace's parents annoyed me beyond the last straw. If they are going to go back into her life they should be more understanding. Like seriously. They were gone after midnight so what do they expect her to do with her time? Did they really think she was asleep or watching tv? Her parents were dumb in the first book then infuriating in the second. Then, they come into her life GROUND HER, make her get RID of Sam, and they hardly cared before anyway! Grace's parents are just... grrrrrr.
I hated Grace's parents so much, like in every book they were so infuriating. First because they were never there and then because they wouldn't leave her alone. I think the worst thing was how blind they were to the fact that Sam wasn't a bad person at all. I do understand how they all of a sudden became so clingy when she got sick but I think the extreme opposites of both their approaches to being parents made it even more irritating.
As soon as her parents entered the story in this book I wanted to slap them. The whole time I was thinking "what's wrong with you!?!?". That said in normal circumstances Grace could have handled the situation in a better way if it were not for the increasingly desperate circumstances. If I was terrified of dying I guess finding a long term rational solution is a little out of the question.
I would have left home sooner if I was Grace! I mean, seriously? Even when Olivia went missing, they weren't there for Grace. The dad seemed more bothered about the wolves than his relationship with his daughter. They were lucky she didn't go off the rails from the lack of parental guidance.
Grace's parents are my least favorite characters. It bothered me how much disinterest they had in her daugther's life. They're terrible parents. Ilana wrote: "i agree with you guys to an extent but remember that it's kind of the key part to a lot of these types of stories. the lead female has to be somewhat on her own to become stronger than even she re..."
I agree. Most stories I read of this genre where a teen girl falls for some mystery boy with a secret usually involves the female character having parents who don't care or no parents at all.
Personal Demons is the only book I can think of that doesn't fall into that category, but the main character still manages to get away with a lot even though she has "strict" parents who don't approve of her boyfriend.
OMG!!!! I was just reading all the comments and I totally agree with all you guys! Her parents were really annoying and a couple of times I found myself shouting at the book and telling them that they had no right to tell her that she couldn't see Sam.
Kenzie wrote: "i hate them soooooo much that there arent words to describe the feeling hatred towards them!!"i agree
I absolutely HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE her parents..... One moment, they act like she doesn't really exist, even though SHE COOKS THEIR MEALS FOR THEM, and the next, their over protective, controlling, demanding hypocrites. And when her stupid father had THE NERVE to punch Sam, I was about to throw the book at the wall. And evidently, they honestly didn't care about her enough if they found a kitten to replace her and started arguing with her when she showed up after like a few months. Be happy that your daughter is back. Don't pile on your senseless and over protective demands. If there was a perfect way to describe them, it would be as a HORMONAL DEPRESSED MENTAL TEENAGE GIRL!!! Goodness. They keep changing their mind. Don't all of a sudden run into your daughters life taking control of it, when you never have before, and ruin it!Everything was fine until she had to wolf up and her parents had to go phsyco! To all dear readers, I apologize about this rant...... B-but, things. These things annoy the crap out of me and it makes me want to stick my hand into a pot of burning tomatoe sauce and then shove it down my throat.....

But to be honest they are complete dip shits, okay.
Honestly this is their part. "Oh shit our daughter is having sex with her boyfriend, even thought we didn't care what she did before it's time to put on the parenting pants and ground her."
Like really? Are they half-dumb, and half-stupid? You think if they wern't home til midnight everyday thay'd figure out their daughter isn't going to be sitting home watching TV.
That's my rant on her parents. WHat did you think of them?
