Then there was the slow but steady erosion of the adult world's influence... You got me started. Now I have you to blame for wanting to reread the book next week.

I find something new each time. When I was in college -- I will not disclose how many years ago -- a classmate mentioned a Sigmund Freud connection, and I found myself reading about the id (Jack), the ego (Ralph), and the superego (Piggy). Next, I noted totalitarianism vs democracy. Then there was Ralphs empathy, his concern for Piggy, Sam n' Eric, and Simon. Next, I noted Golding's tendency to dehumanize the boys -- until they were nothing but savages. He subtly eliminated the use of the character's names... You get the point. Thanks for the trip down Amnesia Lane in the town of Nerdville.
Hiya, thanks for friend request. Lord of Flies, I agree Ralph's character definitely has greater overarching meaning of democracy that I can appreciate more now that I didn't first understand haha. Do you enjoy rereading it to find new themes everytime? Excited to chat up some bookish things with ya !! (✿◠‿◠)xoxo
