Mir Your website that you list at the top isn't active yet, you tease.

message 187: by Aaron

Aaron No more new stuff from you here, never ever forever never for real? Other than people I know in person and from other websites, you are the first person I sent a friend request to here. I was looking forward to reading more of your fun reviews. I am experiencing a certain amount of sadness. Still, happy trails, best wishes and whatnot.

message 186: by Joel

Joel i deleted your post from my profile but wanted to say thanks for the tipoff! stupid goodreads.

message 185: by Esteban

Esteban del Mal Probably not. I'd make fart noises during testimony or something, get disbarred, move to Australia and get eaten by a salt water crocodile when I'm trying to be all properly despondent.

YOU, on the other hand, would be great at it. Just don't let your clients know that you actually liked an Ayn Rand book, 'k?

message 184: by Esteban

Esteban del Mal I just watched Gideon's Army and want to be a public defender. Can you deputize me or something?

message 183: by Kelly

Kelly "I always cry when I get surprised."

This has happened to me before, even with books that I have read before but it has been so long that I've forgotten. I would also vote for it as a pretty perfect book. There are times when I show up in a bookstore and just want an actual story to fall into- that's one of the examples I sometimes give of what I mean when I say that.

message 182: by Kelly

Kelly How was your re-read of I Capture the Castle? It seems like it was just as amazing. I figured we wouldn't get a whole new review of it, so I thought I'd ask here. I love talking about that book.

s.penkevich [hiatus-will return-miss you all] I'm reading a book that has a character named Sparrow in it. Every time I see the name on the page, I think 'you're not the real Sparrow!'.

message 180: by Samuel

Samuel Vega Thanks for accepting my friend invite:D

message 172: by Sonja

Sonja hi there! thanks for accepting my friend request :)

message 171: by karen

karen you can never be too prepared.

Jenn "Awww Yeaaahhh" You will pass! Because the alternative of brain death is no bueno, no matter how much I love zombies.

Can you say ROLLING in notification bills??? Holla!

Jenn "Awww Yeaaahhh" I don't think Sarah would mind moving her wedding so that we could all meet up. However, airline change fees are the real menace in this scenario.

Dude, hardly any of the first years here fail the bar exam. You'll be fine. First call of duty when you pass is to make GRs start working again.

We are flying in Thursday morning and leaving Monday night. You'll be so ready for an alcoholic beverage come Thursday!

Jenn "Awww Yeaaahhh" YO SPARROW! Yes to SYTYCD thread this year! Just have to go set it up, and before tonight's show so that I will have something to do after I watch it.

Also, WHY will I not be getting to see you at the end of this month???

message 167: by Kelly (last edited Jul 02, 2012 09:25AM)

Kelly Alas, a big windstorm this weekend cut off my ability to engage in virtual fighting this weekend! But it has now gloriously returned! I have to say though much as I adore Tolstoy (and I do oh so much), his pages long discussions of the virtues/not of the Russian peasant is making it pretty hard for me to totally hate on Hemingway's style. Damn! I'm going to read Farewell to Arms later this year, so no worries. I have no doubt the flames shall be stoked once more!

I am interested about this though: Thought: maybe I can totally handle women who are ridiculous and un-women as minor characters when the story is completely not about them, but I can't handle them when they are the focus of the story.

I will fight you about this! But first define ridiculous? Are you saying Anna K and Emma B are ridiculous? How so? I don't think at least Flaubert saw Emma B as an "un-woman"- I actually think he totally supported them. Or do you just mean not the message, but that the story is about women's roles and being like this or that and you don't want to read a story that's just about that? Maybe I am not understanding?

message 166: by Anthony

Anthony Chavez Haha so awesome. There aren't many sitcoms with the continuity that HIMYM has. Sure they have the underlying storyline but many sitcoms will have a recurring joke or something major happen (::salutes:: MAJOR HAPPEN!) for ONE episode, HIMYM brings back jokes in other episodes, and I just love that continuity. Like the interventions! So great. Thanks for adding me Sparrow =)

Jubilation Lee Is it bad that I had NO IDEA we weren't friends?

Paquita Maria Sanchez That interview! So good!

message 163: by Esteban (last edited May 11, 2012 10:41AM)

Esteban del Mal Meme generator is broken, so you're going to have to work with me here...

Imagine a big billboard off the highway somewhere with James Franco on it. Got your attention? Good. Then, off to a lower corner somewhere is a DMV quality picture of you in a suit with a phone to your ear. Next to said picture of you is the following: "GOT A TICKET? CALL 1-800-LAW-DAWG"

message 162: by Michael

Michael Would it be better for you if we did the 20th, so you're done with all the graduation stuff? Either Mother's Day or the 20th are equally good for me.

message 161: by Michael

Michael Wonderful. It is not in the original douchish; it is the C. K. Scott Moncrieff and Terence Kilmartin translation. Which I know nothing about. When do we wanna tackle this? How about two weeks from today? On Mother's Day?

message 160: by Michael

Michael Last night I bought a copy of Swann's Way. Wanna Proust with me? Not immediately, because I also bought The Satanic Verses and have already started it. But we could Proust later this month. Or later this summer.

message 159: by Flannery

Flannery Ha, that's so true. Although I haven't really been looking...;-) I won't harass you about what you're up to in that realm--I know how annoying it gets.

Paquita Maria Sanchez Shoot, I missed your birthday too? Dangit! Happy birthday, Mer!

message 157: by Kristina

Kristina I would totally love to do nanowrimo! I feel like I've been cheating on my novel with law school... hopefully this November (though that's kind of doubtful) but DEFINITELY next November.

message 156: by Kristina

Kristina Hey!! I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU for hooking me up on Goodreads. I have been reading so much more since then, of every type of genre, and it's really opened me up to the beauties of reading (which I'd known, but had failed to further). Thanks!!

PS - plus now I'm totally in the Hunger Games loop. It may be the first time that I've ever been so synchronized with popular mainstream culture... awesome. :)

message 155: by Regina

Regina Thanks for the friend request. My heart goes out to you -- in law school? I am a lawyer -- so you have my sympathies! ;)

message 154: by Robert

Robert Thanks for accepting my friend request, Sparrow.

message 153: by Eh?Eh!

Eh?Eh! Should it be "alternatively" or "alternately"? I have never figured those two out.

message 152: by Mir

Mir I thought you might like this: http://www.actionyes.org/issue16/borj... -- it's a poem that begins 2a § The Consumer Purchases Act on the
whole is an imperative law.

message 151: by Eh?Eh!

Eh?Eh! Have I reclaimed my picture as my own?? Thanks.

message 150: by Aileen

Aileen I wonder about that. Especially if you watch Sixteen Candles again. I can't lose Sixteen Candles.

message 149: by Aileen

Aileen Sparrow wrote: "OMG, you KNOW I wanted to post this on your facebook real bad: http://yoisthisracist.com/ but I was worried about the wrath it might bring."

Love. Siamese Cat Song = Completely Racist. So is Breakfast at Tiffany's. The things that are now ruined for me....

message 148: by Eh?Eh!

Eh?Eh! Group hug!!

(((((karenSparrowEh!)))))

Ademption Hi Sparrow, I don't know when you transitioned names. I haven't been around much lately. But hi! Things are going well in 2L (way better than 1L). I hope all is good with you. Good luck with exams.

message 145: by Joel

Joel i looked through my friends list in order to visit your profile but by the time i got here, i forgot why.

message 144: by Esteban

Esteban del Mal Nice profile pic.

message 141: by Jen (last edited Sep 09, 2011 10:33AM)

Jen Me too. Turtle power!

And I'm getting ready to change my avatar. And it is the fault of Frey's book cover.

message 140: by Jen

Jen Because, you know, we weren't really friends before (we were just really super nice girls who liked to laugh and knew this other girl who read and liked to laugh and we respected that a whole bunch)

Wait. What was the time before the ice cream sandwich again?

message 139: by Jen

Jen Okay. Let it be known that we have established a pax ice cream sandwich brokered by Ninja Turtle.
