Darrell Hammond I picked up this while checking to see where B&N was hiding my book. Celebrity memoirs I generally find annoying or overblown but Hammond is so human he can make you cry and laugh at the same time. Totally recommend.

I added some of the books that I read during the process of writing January First. Some I liked more than others but there is no way you are going to get me to review any of them. All did somethings I liked and all I did things (in terms of writing-I never judge the actions of others) that didn't feel right for my book.
Without question my biggest influence. I love Sheff's honesty and the fact that he constantly wrestles with how much his cheating and subsequent divorce led to Nick. Sheff I don't ever lets go of that guilt. In terms of writing style, he is very different. He spends a lot of time on setting up the environment. I prefer to move quickly. Great book though.
While I admire Isaacson (I can't stand those who argue there is a cure. For me they are modern day snake oil salesmen-yes,Jenny McCarthy, I am looking at you) for not saying that dragging your child to Mongolia is the way to cure autism, I kept waiting for him to realize how truly insane what he was doing was. Of course, he wrote in present tense too so I think what we see is blind hope thoughout his telling. For me, if he had self-doubt, he didn't show it and I feel self-doubt all the time.
