Pia, it was a delight to meet you at the recent Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge--and a special treat to share a table and conversation in the book signing tent.

By the end of that day, life had spun me in a new direction. My younger daughter was injured in motorcylce accident, and I rushed home and to the hospital. She is recovering, and we live in hope.

I heart me some Pia. Go Famous Fathers!

thanks for the SMO tip, sweet p. i'll try to remember it once we're settled in california. the move is on the other side of this weekend . . . weird, liminal state in which we live in a giant box fort, surrounded by more stuff than we've ever had before with access to none of it. will keep you posted.

I checked my podcasts today and there you were, your story, Driveway, on NPR's selected shorts. Flat on the living room carpet, next to the splashes of avocado on my daughter's face, bolting without a destination, I listened to Hope Davis until the she felt the bones on his fingers. Wonderful story Pia. Wonderful.

Pia, Terry gave you the first and very best of compliments and I certainly can not even begin to top that one.
So here's wishing you GOOD LUCK from another fellow writer.

My agent is shopping the memoir and it's...well...excruciating. :-) But moving on to a novel and trying to not to think about it. ---except for the part where I should be rewriting it. 'tis the life.

I love watching your successes though. Vicarously is still a very nice way to live. ;-)

I savored your book. Each story was like a really fine truffle.

I agree with Terry - I can't imagine anyone ever being sorry for reading your books. But that thing he said about becoming rich, I'm still waiting for that to happen!

I personally guarantee that if anybody buys Pia's books and reads them, they will not be sorry.

Also, they will suddenly become rich, successful, and moderately happy.

Furthermore, all those not currently involved will fall in love. With someone available.

And will get a dog that is already trained to bring their slippers. And a plate of cheese and crackers. Without snitching cheese. Or crackers.

And will, when one is required, have time and space for a nap.
