Ken,Thanks for becoming a friend on Good Reads. I hope to read your book soon if possible. I am trying to get my TBR list down a bit.
I love reading and have many, many books to read.
Blessings.
Donna
Thank you so much, Terry! You are very kind. I am hoping that my book does help many. There is something in it for everyone. I hope that you enjoy it. Take care...

I hope that you have a chance to read it. If you enjoy it, be sure to read the biographical fiction sequel: The Road to Amistad. I know that it's crazy to follow up a memoir with a fictional sequel, but that's what my muse directed me to do. Originally, Detour from Normal was fiction, so it made sense, however, my editor convinced me to write the actual story. That was a big challenge because when you are manic you don't care about time: I had no clue about the timeline. It took considerable effort to recreate that based on my wife's journal and 1200 pages of medical and mental health records.
In the end, Detour kept a bit of the creative flavor of the fiction piece. Some readers dislike that but I could not write that book today. It needed to be written while I was still a bit incapacitated to accurately capture the subject matter.
I began The Road to Amistad while the first draft of Detour was at the editor, writing 200 pages in 10 days. I have never again written so prolifically. After deciding to make Detour into a memoir, I nearly scrapped it, but it was too dear to my heart to abandon. I just loved the characters, scenes and settings and the story was deeply personal as if it really was my own story. In fact, I think of it as my own alternate history.
Thanks for writing.
Sincerely,
Ken
