Hugely delighted to announce that I've just received the contract for my latest book. Won't be out till Spring 2018 but edits start soon. It's called To See the Stars and is a collection of five short stories linked by the central character, Edie Murphy. Starts in 1906 and takes her from a Newfoundland outport to the garment industry in New York. She's part of the first ever women's strike and is witness to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. Publisher is Running the Goat Books and Broadsides from Tors Cove, Newfoundland. I'll keep you posted.

So pleased to receive the following from a friend who has just read The Silent Summer of Kyle McGinley."I just finished The Silent Summer of KM- how magnificent- even if starting it last night meant all chores today would be swept away in favor of the compelling reading. I could barely stand the suspense of it. I could absolutely see the barn painting, and the landscape by moonlight. The crow is perfect- her progress is so touch and go, just like the boy's.
I will have to reread at a much more measured pace, as I'm sure I missed pieces. I'm so grateful for his resolve at the end. it's what I wish for my niece and all my beloved teen students . .. the emancipation, identity, and security to grow. At any rate, thank you for this soulful treasure of a book. I love, love it."
For an author, knowing a book has ongoing life is a big, big boost; having readers find what you hoped they would means everything. Made my day.
