Sorry about that. I joined to see what the site was saying about my books and hit SKIP when it asked me to check my address book, but it seems to have sent out something to everyone in my address book that is on GoodReads anyway. Some of them are people I don't really know, but we're on a list together from some organization and they don't know who this crazy woman is asking them to be her "friend." Certainly not anything I ever intended. I don't do the social networking site stuff usually. But many thanks for the book recommendations. I love Annie Dillard.

I'm delighted to be your friend and share the love of books. I'm currently recommending In the Time of the Butterflies to friends. It's one I've taught year after year and students always find very moving. Plus they learn some history. You've probably read it, though, so I'd also recommend For the Time Being by Annie Dillard, one of my favorite writers.
