Martin Amis is the high priest of the English novel and is regarded as probably one of the best writers of fiction alive in England today. his prose is self knowing, dense in tone, containing great imagery and word play. A difficult read but worth persevering with. The smut, such as it is, is ironic in tone and usually at the expense of the characters. hope you enjoy

I have recently finished Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec. It is a romantic comedy with a raunchy cast of characters including a four year old who talks like a trucker and has word salad when he sleeps, a hilariously wicked heroin and her super nice baby daddy, and their group of obscenely vulgar friends. I have never laughed so much reading a book. It’s not overly emotional, no angst, no controversy just a nice fluffy read that I really enjoyed.

There are two more books in the series I need to finish, and then I’m going to read Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. For a while now all I have read is some genre of romance and it seems the plots are all starting resemble the ones before so I need to switch it up a bit.

I am going to check out Martin Amis later this evening. I’m always on the hunt for a new smuttastic author.

Your missive, so generous in tone, has left me undone. I am pleased that it made you smile. Unfortunately, my oeuvre, such as it is, is salacious in tone and may not suit your tastes. In short, I am penning a mucky book.
To raise my snout from the gutter, and to purge my soul of baser instincts, I am currently reading Martin Amis’ London Fields- I find that he does smut so much better than anyone else.

Love your profile Jake. Tried not to crack up too much, but by the time I got to the part where you bamboozled housewives by hocking brushes I was full on laughing. Then after I read the word impecunious, which I had never heard before, (I had to google it) I knew that even if we never have any books in common I want to read your reviews. :)

Ok, here is my sentence with my new "big word" for the day.....

My husband has recently been laid-off, so while we aren't impecunious, no new handbags for me.
