Hi Lewis, thanks so much for the friend invitation! I know you've heard this a lot, but I'll say it anyway: "I've tried to write a novel, found it terribly difficult and was unable to finish." But in my case, I switched to screenplays, found them much easier to write, and finished seven. (No results, not even an option, but it was a wonderful experience!) So I know how wonderful it feels to type "The End" or in my case, "Fade Out." I must read one or more of your books! I absolutely admire writers, I think the written word is the supreme art form.
Greetings, Lewis! Friend Request Accepted, thanks for Requesting! Congratulations on your books! I hope you've had a great week and are ready for a great weekend. Happy reading, writing, and everything else. Blessings!Best wishes from Majenta

Thanks for the friend request (if there is a way to comment when accepting a friend request, I've never found it) and I was happy to like your review and look forward to seeing more of them!
Thanks for the add Lewis! I've really enjoyed reading your reviews on the many historical novels you've read, and looking forward to some gander time on your own catalog :)
Hi Lewis and thank you for the friend invite and for notice that I liked your review of Hitler's Pope. I look forward to reading your other reviews.
Thanks for your "like" of my review of A Duty To The Dead. I am really enjoying both the Bess Crawford series and the Ian Rutledge series by Charles Todd. Love reading about that WW1 era time period.
Lewis, I am looking forward to seeing you and talking books on Saturday August 15. My daughters and I are staying up in Marathon. I'm coming to the second day of the writers' festival and they are going shopping!Jane
Thanks for your "like" of my "Nightingale" review. You will appreciate how the book shows how Nazi occupation affected the common people.
Thank you, Lewis, for noticing my comment on yours, of "All Our Yesterdays". It was the Jesse Stone character, played by Tom Selleck, on made-for-TV movies that turned me on to Robert B. Parker's books. I have now read all of the Spenser, Jesse Stone, Sunny Randall, Virgil Cole, and Everett Hitch books, plus all but 2 or 3 of his other books. Years ago, I found Earl Emerson with “Deception Pass”, and met him personally when he visited Denver to promote “Vertical Burn”. I’m also reading Ridley Pearson’s books set in the Seattle area (my birthplace). My real introduction to crime fiction was courtesy of the MHZ International Mystery series, broadcast every night in the Denver area by public broadcasting, KBDI-DT3, Channel 12.3 (on free antenna reception). A televised interview with Maj Sjowall piqued my interest, so I read the ten books, in order, of the Martin Beck Series. Then, I read the Millennium Trilogy of Stieg Larsson and saw all four movies of those stories. I found Margaret Coel's "Killing Custer" on the library new books rack, and have now been lent 11 Coel books by a friend. My son asked about my progress with Spenser, and upon finding I'd read all but "Robert B. Parker's Cheap Shot", he asked if I'd gotten acquainted with Alex Cross. So, there's my plan for the next year: Coel and Patterson.

I have long believed it is perfectly ok to stop reading if you're not liking a book. If the first 100 pages doesn't grab you, it is very unlikely that the rest of the book will.
Thanks for he friend request. That was my first request based on a shared response to a book we have both read. Thanks for validating me. I will enjoy reading your take on titles, I think.
Glad to meet you, Lewis! Thank you for the friend request. You have an interesting array of reads, and a challenging job as an author.I appreciate your remarks about my reading interests. It's a funny thing to me, the difference having an electronic reader makes in how I read. I've always been a big reader, since childhood, spending lots of time in the library. Hardly ever would just quit reading a book because I didn't like it. Then my sis gave me a Nook. Now I download books from the library, purchase books, borrow books, electronically; if a book doesn't grab me pretty quickly, I'll just delete it and move on to the next. The electronic world has also opened me up to books I would never have searched out before, like the WWII saga "Unbroken" and Tony Danza's book about being a high school teacher. So I do see it as a positive thing, with the major drawback being that my Nook is much heavier than a paperback when it strikes me in the nose as I drift asleep....
Looking forward to following your trail through the literary landscape. Lead on, McDuff!

Good morning, Lewis. I saw the post with your latest "want to read" books listed and mosied on to your page to review some of your other book choices and to read about the books you have written. I have added "The Pope's Conspiracy" and "The Heretice" to my want to read list and my break my rule limiting the number of books I buy in one month as they are so enticing!
Historical fiction may be my favorite genre, but I fear being overly committed as there are just too many books in to many other genres to have just one favorite.
Regardless, I enjoy reading your reviews, and reading about your want to reads.

Lewis,Thank you for buying "An Obsolete Honor." I'll be interested in your comments/review. You have set yourself a difficult -- but immensely important task -- in trying to understand/explain the appeal of an ideology that is the antithesis of all we value today. It's easy to slip into clichés.
I was also struck by your interest in Medieval Spain. I'm currently working on a book that describes the end of the Christian kingdoms in the Holy Land. Also a difficult period....
Anyway, thanks again for the friend request and the interest in my book.
Helena
Hi Lewis - always happy to meet another Disher fan :) - I love his Wyatt series in particular - thank you for the friend invite :)
Unfortunately, I have a nook, not a Kindle--any way to get the Catalan family saga just as a ebook (nonKindle edition)? Lisa
ARLENE ... It was fun talking with Ron last night. Looking forward to listening to what I said ... LEW WEINSTEIN
