Dave, I'm reading Big Sky because the author was the uncle of a woman in my book club. My favorite books about the 'old west' are One Thousand White Women and The All True Travels and Adventures of Miss Liddy Newton. One of my favorite writers overall is Barbara Kingsolver. I read everything she writes. I agree about getting the facts right.

Hey, Carol, thanks for the add. By the way, I have written authors after reading their work. Usually, it's a fan letter. Once, it was as a non-fan, since the author didn't have his facts right, and wrote a crappy ending. Crappy ending, okay, that's their choice, but not getting the facts of the weaponry right, well that's not. I work hard to make sure all my facts are right, they should too. It's not like they can't get on the web and search things out. My favorite writer... well that's a toss up, but there are a few I still read every time they put something out, Evanovich is one, and Larry Block is another. Also the JD ROBB books of Nora Roberts, though I can't go the stuff she writes under he own name. You might like Aimee and David Thurlo, they generally write about Native Americans in today's world. The Ella Clah series is great. So is JA Jance's Joanna Brady series, or her staple, JP Beaumont.
