Hi Mark, thanks so much for your message which I'm just now seeing! Your journey with dogs and cats sounds wonderful. We do shed a lot of tears over these precious animals ... but they are always so worth it. I hope you've had a chance to check out A Happy Truth ... it's all about the ups and downs of loving them, losing them, and somehow beginning anew. Warm wishes for 2020! -- dh

Very nice to meet you Daisy, and thank you for the friend invite. I read some of the reviews of your new book and they all sounded very positive.I grew up with cats, but when I met the woman who became my wife, she was a dog person. Since I was moving into her house I became a dog person too. We had three dogs together, Bartok, Zeno and Molly Bloom, over a period of 25 years. When we buried the last dog in the garden I decided I had had enough. About two weeks later I discovered a mother cat and four kittens under our back porch. We started feeding them and building little house to keep them out of the sun. When the weather changed we tricked them into the house. That was seven years ago. We now keep 8 cats, Mommy cat, Mittens, Ulysses, Tristan, Isolde (Izzy), Junior, Baby, and Gilberte in the house and two Ginger/Pumpkin and Odette under the porch, all rescues. I’ve shed more tears burying cats and dogs than any other event in my life. It is a great capacity to love, to loose, and then to love again. ☮️
Ps. The picture I use as my avatar was not my cat. He was an old alley tom cat that befriend us for about a year. One day after his supper he walked across the alley and I never saw him again. I probably cried for him too.
Pss. I apologize for putting this here. Author sites are different and I’ve never understood how to send private messages.
