I sincerely hope you enjoy it! If you are not already aware, although it does stand alone, it is part prequel and part sequel to my first book THE HIGHEST STAKES, a work of romantic historical fiction set in the world of 18th century horse racing. (Many people don't realize the two books are connected!)

Hi Suzanne! I'm pretty much the same about my ratings but because I'm an author, I have to be careful about critiquing others. (People in glass houses...) If I can't give a book at least a 3 I simply mark it read with no rating but I will respond privately to friends who wish to know my thoughts on a book. I've greatly enjoyed Goodreads and have made some incredible friends here. I hope you have a great experience as well.

I looked over your ratings of various books. I like the fact that you save a 5* for the amazing few. So often a 4* is considered flawed. I personally start at 3* for a book I enjoyed and work from there. Anything I would not recommend a friend spending time on is given a 1 or a 2.
