Perspectives in Getting Your Point of View Across:
In writing Heart Intelligence I have experienced the following dilemma and I propose a sincere solution:
Our predicament as opposing views collide in our approach to evolving as a “World civilization” is that almost everybody says, “This is the way!”
Our definitions define our worldviews. Hence we argue, all we are doing is asserting a worldview. The adversarial manner of argument has more to do with dominance, control, religious and scientific dogma and very little if at all, the truth. Truth again is just another prerogative and can take various shapes and forms, equally valid based on individual and communal perspectives.
An alternative way to get your point across perhaps sounds something like this:
1. Primarily, acknowledge that “The other” is here and is as equally viable as you.
2. Then, admit that all worldviews are imperfect and could rather be seen as evolving.
3. Further, recognise the language of dominance and control and see it as the status-seeking, ego gratifying act that it essentially is.
4. Once we recognise the need for status seeking, we can exclude our ego from the argument. We are then free to assist “Each other” and dislodge the toxic status-seeking, egocentric and often religious and anthropocentric noxious worldviews we have acquired.
