Still plugging away at the novel and have written several short stories. Gravelight moved from Delaware to LA and once they are settled we'll start working on the classic horror series.

How's the novel coming along?

I'm working with Gravelight Press to put out 13 classic horror books with new intros starting to 2023. I'm also working on a novel and some short stories. I've written about 75% of the novel. I hope to finish a rough this summer. Gardening has been getting in the way of writing recently. :-) Thanks for asking Christopher!

Hey John, I'm using this window of time, when publishers aren't sending me books, to catch up on the backlog of books I already have waiting. I know it is hard to explain to writers the number of books I get sent a year not to mention the books that I really want to read. What I would do if I were you is find some reviewers that aren't as busy as I am. I'm sure you have written some fantastic books and I hope they find the audience they deserve.

'Steady as She Goes' 'The Atlas Murders' A review from you would be so much appreciated.

James I read a lot of Pelecanos before I was ever on GR, but I did read and review his most recent book. Here is a link to the review. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Thank you for the kind words JG. Thanks for the friend request as well. I do have a great love for reading and for books. I'm so glad that comes across in my reviews. Keep reading! I look forward to seeing you knocking around GR.

Thanks for asking Graneo! Your kind words warmed my heart. Thank you for that as well. Happy reading to you as well. I hope we have a long and productive book friendship.

Thanks Cheryl! This is a great place to hang out. Book people are my people.

I guess he saw the error of his ways.

Ha! Indeed! He probably has a cafeteria plan!

Thank you kindly sir! I'm always glad to hear someone refer to their books as a library. You are welcome in mine as well! I see you are a Chatwin man as well. It reminds me that I'm long overdue to reread them so I can review them. Great to make your acquaintance!

You are most welcome Dragana! Thanks for the request.

Thanks for accepting Mike! You've been a great supporter of what I'm trying to do with my reviews.

Thanks for accepting Deanna! Your reviews are great!

You are welcome. Clara thanks for asking!

Thanks for asking Christin! Thanks also for the kind words about my reviews. :-)

You are most welcome! Thanks for asking. Welcome to GR!

You're my most well-read GR friend, so can you help me with some recs? I'm interested in books that are:
* Written in English originally (not translation)
* Published, say, after 1950.
* Most interested in novels of about 50k-120k words (maybe 180-400 pages). Not that I don't read short stories or longer sagas, but I find this is a good length. And let's talk about novels, not plays, of now.
* As long as it tells a good story, I like it, although my fav is love stories (NOT romances). It's surprisingly hard to find excellent love stories, that are not shallow, not boring, not predictable.
* NO horrors, dystopian, and probably not mysteries (although I used to love Christie.)
I'd really appreciate your suggestions. ^_^

You asked me which Japanese books might be interesting to read. You probably said that just to be nice, but here are my recs anyway:

I probably haven't read it. Are we talking about Eiji Yoshikawa?

Thanks for asking Kelly! Shoot me a PM anytime.

Wow! Thanks Glenn! I'm keeping that for a background on my computer. I appreciate you sending it to me.

Thanks again for reading my review of Herbin - The Plastic Alphabet. I thought you might enjoy how your name translates into a Herbin painting using the letters of your name from his plastic alphabet:

Thank you Luis! I've spent a lifetime collecting these books together. Very few people do that anymore.

I am a serious fan of The Tale Of Genji, but that is very long and takes a lot of time investment. So how about The Pillow Book? Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
If you enjoyed Naomi, you might also like Kawabata's The Old Capital.
