You'll find the hotel well designed for your chair too, with wide straight corridors and large lifts. Jamie and I were really impressed with the disabled access there, and the staff are incredibly helpful :)
Yep, it sounds fab! My sisters coming as well because I'm in a chair so she's accompanying me, otherwise I'd never have made it . I've got to say Jo that the communication with Charlie has been wonderful... She's been so kind and helpful to my needs and I can't thank everyone enough. In fact the encouragement from all my friends on GR as been fantastic. Hence the happy bunny dance.. lol!

I'll see what I can do, though, because I have a huge soft spot for him too :)
Just finished "Screwing the System" and I LOVE those guys :D I love all the stories you write and inevitably fall in love with not just the main guys, but the supporting staff. So, to calm my soft heart, will Nasher get his own story, please? I want him and Cosmo to be okay :)Thanks for writing!!
Macky wrote: "You're Welcome Jo, sounds like here's going to be a LOT of frivolity. Damn I'm jealous!!! :D"Frivolity is always fun when in the right company ;D
Macky wrote: "Hey Jo. Unfortunately as close as I am, I won't be able to make it to the meet..."Aww, no worries. It is so much fun to hook up with everyone there, but we'll be doing it again in 2014 (although not in Manchester).
And thanks! That's so lovely to hear :D
Hey Jo. Unfortunately as close as I am, I won't be able to make it to the meet and I'm gutted because I would love to meet you and all the fantastic friends Ive made on GR. I'm with you all in spirit and hopefully next year it'll be in the flesh! Thanks for accepting my friend request. But special thanks for doing what you do, your books are great! :D

Lavinia wrote: "Hi Jo,It was lovely to meet you too. I didn't get a chance to talk to many people and it was all a little daunting if I'm honest! lol! It was a great day though, I enjoyed. Def next year! :)"
I was lucky enough to have already met eleven of the people there, but I can imagine it must have been overwhelming if you hadn't! Next year should be great fun, though. I hope we'll have the opportunity to have more activities for smaller groups, so people have a chance to socialise in situations that are less intimidating :)

I can't take credit for how the weekend as a whole went as so many people helped out, but I'm so happy to know you felt welcome :D
Do let me know what you think of the novel when you've had a chance to read it - I'm really looking forward to yours too :)
Love Jo x
PS - I was showing the photos to a friend yesterday, and she thinks your Superman union jack t-shirt was awesome. I'll have to send you a copy of the pic.
Cole wrote:I really like getting out my markers and graph paper and making fair isle motifs :) That sounds so dorky, but I've always been fascinated with the his..."I've never done any fair isle or intarsia - so far I've stuck to lacework patterns. I do like the idea of having a go, though - maybe I could start with something easy that I'd actually wear, like a broad headband.
In the past I've mainly knitted and crocheted presents for friends and family, but then there's always a time pressure to get them finished in time and it can stop me enjoying the process. I think from now on I'm going to make things for myself - which probably means lots of socks and headbands (I have way too much hair to fit it all under a hat without it looking ridiculous!)
My nan taught me to knit when I was a kid, but I didn't do it for years and have taught myself everything else from books since. I ended up learning the german knitting technique from the Stitch n' Bitch books, as it suits me to hold the yarn in my left hand like I do when crocheting. Supposedly it makes things faster, although I hadn't noticed - I think I may well be the world's slowest knitter :)
I'd love to see photos of some of your fair isle patterns - do you have any online?
What sort of patterns do you like to create?I really like getting out my markers and graph paper and making fair isle motifs :) That sounds so dorky, but I've always been fascinated with the history of knitting -- so I love like the different aran patterns that the Irish used to have per clan and I love the differences in Scandinavian color patterns. I think its beautiful. I also like to collect old knitting books, if I can find them. I have found some of the best patterns that way.
I mostly knit socks and hats, as thats what I wear and I rarely knit for anyone else, except a scarf here and there. Or some booties for a new baby. I'm great at making booties :) I learned to crochet from my grandmother when I was about 7, but I never really took it anywhere like I did with knitting. Its a nice pastime, it relaxes me.
Cole wrote: "Hey Jo! I'll definitely be getting the sip then. Do you knit? Maybe we can share patterns :)"Thanks!
I'm much better at crochet than knitting, but I've certainly dabbled... Recently it's all been socks for some reason. I haven't done as much as I used to, mainly because my yarn stash is all in the loft :(
What sort of patterns do you like to create?
Cole wrote: "What a wonderful story! And a very expensive kink :)I am so like Steve its not even funny, you practically wrote me into the story, even with the cat thing!"
Aw, thanks! I have a real soft spot for Steve (and Jez) - they're the stars of my new Sip, "First Impressions", coming out from Torquere next Saturday (spot the shameless plug).
Anyone who would venture up onto a roof to rescue a kitten has got to be a hero - and knitting too? Perfection! ;D
What a wonderful story! And a very expensive kink :)I am so like Steve its not even funny, you practically wrote me into the story, even with the cat thing!
Val wrote: I'm looking forward to comparing books. I love your rating ..."Thanks Val! It made me feel better about giving 3 or 4 stars once I had that to refer to :)
I've just finished the second draft of my first novel, so hopefully that will find a publisher for some time in 2011. And I have plans for novellas galore! Just need to find time to write them all...I found your comments in that ratings thread really interesting too. It's provoked some strong reactions from readers - I had no idea it was such a controversial topic!
I admit, I never would have thought of it if I hadn't seen some of your comments;) I love the way you think! Are there any longer stories in the works? Thanks for accepting;D

I love that museum. Could definitely show you round. It's only just up the road from the hotel. And the bar where Lewis has drinks with Jos and Brandon is just a few hundred yards around the corner too :D
