I'm not on FB so I can't say it there but Happy Birthday. I wish I could be in Phoenix today to buy you a round to celebrate your birthday and celebrate Illuminae. I have to physically force myself to put it down when it's time to work, sleep or you know interact with my wife and kids.

I love your original storyline and the amount of research you've put into getting the Japanese terminology correct (as a student of Japanese I get highly annoyed when people do it wrong). I haven't read a lot of Japanese literature tbh. Some Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Eiji Yoshikawa is about it. I always worry what we miss out on in the translations, and sadly, I don't speak Japanese :(

I know it's not something a mature author-y type person should admit to, but most of my Japanese influence comes from all the manga I read as a kid. :)
