Cool, I get it. I just have Beethoven on the brain! He had it rough at times, so a "Sharp" Ninth reference also seemed to fit. It's good you actually have a double reference in your title, even if unintended.

Yes, "Sharp 9th" is a musical reference. Not to Beethoven. In music there are major and minor sounds. Dichotomous. Major happy, hard, angry. Minor, haunting sad, soft. But, magically, there is one note, only one, that merges the major and the minor - the Sharp 9th (#9th). The book tells a story that feels like a #9th cord (or, I hope it odes). The male protagonist is a musician, and, I think, he knows this as he narrates the story.

Heck of a tome alright, more like a brick, I could use it to build a house...! But no pressure, just a note to let you know it's out. I understand it's a big literary investment considering it's size, hopefully it will prove an entertaing read if readers like coming-of-age / Romance novels with a thorough mix of serious and and humorous sections. I wish we could get libraries with budgets completely geared for book-buying to show an interest in our books ...

I like the title of your book, "Sharp Ninth", somehow, it reminds me of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. It fits your synopsis of a musician hitting hard times perfectly.

Hi Sean,

As promised, I said I'd let you know when my new novel was published, "Brushstrokes of a Gadfly". It's finally up on Amazon, it's huge, 1040 pages and 3.7 lbs of absolute text! (Needless to say, I couldn't stop and it turned out bigger than I expected.) At least there is no waste of space, I've tried an experimental non-chapter format, no blank sections at the end of chapters.

Thanks for the friend request. I do enjoy reading the mystery/thriller genre when I need a very rare break from smut :). My avi pic is lead singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine from thrash metal band Megadeth and I have been a fan since 1994. I am a bookaholic so I buy more than I will ever read. Owning access to e books has undone any rehab or resolutions I had hoped for as far as not buying books. Friends? Sure, why not :)
