Hi, HL! So wonderful to hear from you! I'm so glad things are going well. :D Here everything is fine; just going a bit crazy with coursework, but it's the usual mid-semester craziness so it's all good. Big hugs and good luck with your writing! :)
Hi dear!!!I'm awfully busy lately and get to chat very little here.
I told you that your book was good, so I'm glad you're publishing it as an original fiction! :D
I really hope you get a lot of satisfaction from that!
Thaks for thinking about me! :D
Hey HL, haven't seen you around in a while so I thought I would check up on you. I hope all is well. :)
That's so weird because everything else seems to state that whatever content we post belongs solely to us. I'm going to email GR because now I'm curious! lol
"...the goodreads terms of use makes it sound like they own your work if you post it here. NOT cool."I don't think it is. My understanding is that User Content, reviews etc., belong to the members and you own the intellectual property rights unless it violates copyrights, etc. I've seen the staff reiterate that in the Goodreads Feedback Group. You might want to double check with GR staff just to be sure. :) Also, GR doesn't share your reviews with other sites unless you okay it. I think there is a little box you can check in your settings that approves or declines this.
edited to add: According to the terms of service:
Except for your User Content, the Service and all materials therein or transferred thereby, including, without limitation, software, images, text, graphics, illustrations...

Hmmm...maybe not "own" as in, you don't own it any more. But yeah, it definitely sounds like they are telling you that they basically have the right to use your work to benefit the site...as in, they can reuse your words however they see fit and you have no say in it. That's really weird. I don't know...I've seen a lot of authors (such as Bella Andre) utilizing GR to give their books some promotion. Maybe see if you can contact someone who has used it and knows what they're talking about, lol. Cuz to me, that sounds like Gr can just take your words for their own.
"Hey, Rachel, just curious...did u click on my chapter and if so, does it give you an explicit warning you have to click?"Hey HL! :) No, it did not give me a warning. I clicked on "read more of this chapter" and it took me directly to Chapter 1.
HankLover wrote: "Awesome, thanks! Hey, off topic, but are you on twitter? :-)"I'm not but I probably should be. I've thought about starting a book blog and utilizing Twitter and Facebook for that but geez...so many social media sites. I'm beginning to feel old and incompetent, b/c I just can't seem to keep up. If I join, I'll let you know. I don't know the first thing about it, though.
I don't care at all! Take it! I thought this guy was perfect...sort of shy and reserved with that long black hair...yum!!
HankLover wrote: "Read Redeeming Love! It was amazing. Get ready to cry..."I will! I've been reading a lot of historical romance lately, which is great b/c I stopped reading it for awhile. By the way, I'm reading the second Emma Holly book right now and really loving it. Better than the first, imo....
Just cleaned out my inbox here, and had a laugh as I saw the title of my PM to you "BALLS". ;-DLOLOLOLOL!
Oh! It's done?? I was going off the blurb here on your profile!! I will definitely check it out!! I'm so excited!! I'm sure I'll love it! :)
Dr. Mike was(is) one of my favorite shows, and the way it got cancelled really sucked! I'd love to see Hank have his HEA...I really thought he was going to end up with Myra..Anyway, your book sounds awesome and I'm excited to read it :)
