I thoroughly enjoyed Angelfall and may loan it to my sister and niece (this is a big deal, I never loan books!) because I loved it so much and they NEED to read it. I love seeing an author so involved and so receptive to her fans. I look forward to more books in the future. :)

Hi Christine! Free writing is where you write without any plan or forethought. Some people like to free write by listing to music to set the mood or reading a snippet of something beforehand. Some people will use a random word as stimulus.

I find that limiting it to a short time helps with the exercise, say 2 minutes or 5 minutes because you don't have time to think. You write as much as you can during that time.

The goal is to teach yourself to get your everyday (executive or editor's) brain out of the way so that your creative side can be freed. If you have no expectations, you'll let yourself write all kinds of stupid until one day, something comes out that surprises and delights you and you'll have no idea where it came from. Some people refer to this experience as the muse. It's as if someone else wrote your piece. Free writing will help you connect with your muse. It's one of the joys of writing.
