So true, Elaine. That's why I'm liking school visits more and more. You get to be with the people you write for and about, you don't have to worry if anyone besides your immediate family will show up, and elementary kids treat writers like rock stars!

Sue, remembering how grateful I was years ago, when you showed up at one of my book signings downtown with a lei and a cheerful sit-awhile, I returned the favor yesterday with Jordan Seng at Logos. Sure enough, he was doing the usual book signing thing, trying to look engaged and cheerful, expectantly waiting for buyers who weren't showing up. I lei'd him and chatted awhile, commiserating how our book signings aren't like we dream of. I once had a friend ask how I handle writers cramps, signing all those books. LOL
