Yesterday, writer, poet and activist Adrienne Rich died. She was 82. I read her book, Of Woman Born: Motherhood as Experience and Institution, when I was pregnant for the first time and remember thinking: "Thank God someone is willing to tell it like it is!"

I LOVED Harris' Harper Connelly series. I didn't expect to - I just picked it up as something to read until the next Sookie Stackhouse book came out, but I ended up enjoying it more than the vampire stories. And I loved the romance between her and her not-stepbrother.

Did you see that I also LOVED the Disillusionist series? It's by this author I really enjoyed meeting at AAD! :-)
