E.R.'s Friend Comments

I am particularly interested in how you create a character in your writing. As I come from an acting perspective where there is extensive work done in the creation of a character. How do you like to work? And, do you use real life people as models for any of your characters? If so, who was Tamara and Mitch modeled from?
