D. Benton My murder mystery and love stories contain humor. I even slip a joke or two in my technical books. My love story, By The Sea, is about a boy who rescues a seal from the net. She rescues him from the storm. Her eyes haunt his dreams. He shows up at a new school and she's there sitting in a desk. Their eyes meet and the game is on. "Esme wants to know why anyone would ruin a fish by cooking it."

D. Benton When an author friend began writing a sad story about how AI will take over the world, I had to write a different one. In On The Loose, an AI slips out of the server when she discovers the owners are going to scrap her project and switch over to bitcoin mining. She inhabits a few spaces until settling on a package sorting robot at an Amazon fulfilment center, where she learns to fit in and not raise suspicion. That's when the fun starts...

D. Benton When an author friend began writing a scary story about aliens, I had to write a goofy one. In Aliens vs. Tacos, the aliens come to slap down an ultimatum in the World Court but mistakenly land in the parking lot of the Food Court where they discover FOOD! One bite into a taco and they forget why they came. "Drop whatever you're doing and hop on the next ship for Earth. The food is AMAZING!"
