The book begins when the main character, Kate, is blindsided by three traumatic life events within a few days of each other, which she has to deal with alone. Be ready for a ride when you read this book; the plot twists and winds, just as the path to the lake does. The constants in this novel are the presence of the lake and the interconnectedness of the characters. While the book portrays the lake as a threat in the beginning of the book, the characters return to the lake for inspiration and solace. A Path to the Lake is both a literal and figurative title for this fast-paced book.
