"Bro spoiled his own book in the middle

I guess this is a literary device (maybe a meta commentary on the author who can’t help but give the end of a story before he finishes telling it??) but also maybe it’s about how the story isn’t what you think it’s about in the first place? And how you’re supposed to read the other half (a continuation of events pre spoilage) differently?"

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Douglas Adams
“The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

John Steinbeck
“When a child first catches adults out -- when it first walks into his grave little head that adults do not always have divine intelligence, that their judgments are not always wise, their thinking true, their sentences just -- his world falls into panic desolation. The gods are fallen and all safety gone. And there is one sure thing about the fall of gods: they do not fall a little; they crash and shatter or sink deeply into green muck. It is a tedious job to build them up again; they never quite shine. And the child's world is never quite whole again. It is an aching kind of growing.”
John Steinbeck, East of Eden

Emma Lazarus
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
Emma Lazarus

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“Whenever you feel like criticizing any one...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
