People usually don’t find interests in self
improvement genre, and so do i (most of the times)! For many reasons such as repetitive writing style, overly positive sentences, and the author tryna show off etc etc…
However this one is absolutely my favorite book on healing journey, it’s not my first one to read and I knew the info&methods that has been mentioned, -ik them from many sources; my experience, my friends, the internet, therapists I’ve went to, and even in other psychology books I’ve read-
This book is simple, you barely need to reread a sentence to understand, and you’ll lose track of time while reading, it feels like reading many articles but collected under the same cover
My friend who recommended this book told me: (you see the world by 5 colors, and others see it by 2 or 3 colors, it’s okay that people doesn’t fully understand things as u feel them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care, it’s just the view that’s different)
not being understood while I had depression and daily panic attacks made me crumble, even tho I’m doing better, but it had effected my body health way too strongly, I was told I’m under a danger, but at the same time it’s comforting that I’m not physically sick but it’s my emotions dragging me down, I’m a sensitive person, so there are many triggers that overstimulate me, and sometimes I can’t really tell why a word made me throw up, or why something made me freeze while I try to not focus on the race of my heart beats, I had a though attack on a random afternoon which made me faint (it actually wasn’t my first or last one) but this one was the strongest, the longest and the hardest to ever experience in a life time, I hate it when I can’t move, and my lungs burns with each breath i take, while my feets are getting colder on the floor, and all I can do, is nothing
I remember me being on my school uniform all alone while I constantly receive calls, and my hands couldn’t reach the phone, it continued for hours, long hours, and I didn’t feel anything at all, after this day I had a last appointment with my doctor.. then I decided to drop off therapy
Hhhhh wild, because he kept telling me to go on antidepressants and when I had them on my hands, I decided to throw them away and have hope on me instead of a pill
I’m more to believe that life is much bigger than just surviving it🌺
And self therapy is worth it, because I never found comfort in those talks w them, I tried more.. to feel more safe around them, and also to save my money for my next appointments, but then I was hit by a rude questions and all I know my therapist was yelling at me saying (HOW DO YOU WANT ME TO FIX YOU?) im sorry but im not a subject to be fixed, I was a girl with big wounds, that needed to be hugged, not to hurt more, I know that everything I’ve felt was real, even tho I had a doc who said i just made things up, I know I lost sleep, I know I was sick, I know that I lost 10kg+ within months not by sports nor by diet.. but by depression!
That’s why if you’re looking for a lil map, a clue, a tiny voice that’s tryna help you in whatever you’re dealing w I recommend you this book, it will create a lil safe place that might help you fall asleep when you’re struggling at night!
I love it
I’ll definitely come back to this book from time to time ...more "
