Okay so starting off, the two characters meet fairly quickly with her being immediately captured by his attention. The first half of the story is a forced proximity trope and they have to depend on one another and they go so much farther than that.. like helping each other sleep and get past fears and it’s honestly just so cute 😭 This book has a very strong girl boss mc and like she’s the one who holds power over him when it’s technically supposed to be the other way around with their roles in the book.

Jase, I just realized I haven’t said their names, is literally so caring and protective, even when they’re on bad terms and it’s so lovely to read. The way he cares about Kazi (main mc) and how you can see it from the start just makes their relationship all the better. The second half of the book is almost like a fake dating but not really? It’s hard to explain lmao bc they aren’t exactly faking..

It’s made known Kazi’s past is haunting and even though it’s terrible, I love those types of characters bc it’s so cool to like see where they are now and how strong they are because of it. She came from such a rough spot and didn’t have anything at all but she just takes it all in stride and is such a bad*ss that it makes me just love her character.

Jase is one of those people in power whom you’d think has a super huge ego but instead he’s just kinda cocky but like not terribly to where you dislike his character. They fit together so nicely and it’s not like they’re apart 60% of the book, they’re together almost the whole time. And it’s like a switching POV book between the two so you can see both of them and how they react to certain things.

Side characters:
Okay so the author decided to add two more literal bad*ss female characters that are with Kazi and I absolutely love them. They’re the same as Kazi and like it’s so nice to see their relationship and how they’re with each other through all that tough stuff. All three of their personality compliments each other so that there’s humor in everything and it keeps a refreshing tone through most of it.
The Queen is also literally the sweetest person I swear- she took them all in and treats them as sisters and it’s all so cute 😭

Overall, I definitely recommend reading this book, it was around 500 pages so it’s not like a super quick read and it’s over. The romance was so cute all the while pacing through an interesting plot (I left that out bc I was trying so hard not to spoil anything). All the characters have good backgrounds and aren’t shallowly built, and I really came to like some of them. Such an amazing book that I loved, 100% should read it. ...more "
