The story takes place right after the events of the first book, our characters having to deal My Mistborn Era 1 journey continues! This is the second book in the first series and I have to say I love this series and can't wait to see where this goes!

The story takes place right after the events of the first book, our characters having to deal with how to run a now leaderless kingdom and contend with the aftermath of this significant event. I loved seeing this perspective of the events of a rebellion after the rebellion is over. You don't really see that in too many books that have a rebellion element. Especially when you have a group of characters that were once thieves now in positions of power, how things will be different and how they don't want to end up the same way things were before.

My favorite parts of this book was Vin & Elend how they were struggling with finding out who they were and who they wanted to be. Vin had the internal struggle of whether she wanted to be seen as a weapon or if she wanted to be seen as a lady, it's refreshing to see a female character have these feelings on her femineity and deal with what kind of woman she wanted to be seen as without losing herself. I don't think I have seen another female character have this type of journey before. Elend's change from a scholar to learning to be a king is interesting to see as well. He had to deal with toughening himself and becoming something that he loathed before. I felt for Elend's troubles but understood why he had to change in order to run a kingdom.

There were many revelations and shocking moments in this book, the battle was a big one and my jaw dropped at points when I learned what happened during and after it. What we ultimately learned about the ruler and the magic of this world was crazy!

The magic continues to amaze me! I love the magic and how it works, you would think introducing new forms would confuse readers more but it doesn't. It is explained in a way that we completely understand ad it is written in such a fun way. This has to be one of my fun magic systems and I can't wait to see what new information will be revealed next.

I really enjoyed this book and I am so glad to have picked up this book series this year! I can't wait to read more and see how it all ends with the first era! ...more "
