Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
“The true is thus the bacchanalian whirl in which no member is not drunken; and because each, as soon as it detaches itself, dissolves immediately — the whirl is just as much transparent and simple repose.”
Hegel, G. W. H.

Karl Marx
“Labor in the white skin can never free itself as long as labor in the black skin is branded.”
Karl Marx, Das Kapital/Das kommunistische Manifest

Slavoj Žižek
“Fundamentalist Islamic terror is not grounded in the terrorists’ conviction of their superiority and in their desire to safeguard their cultural-religious identity from the onslaught of global consumerist civilization.”
Slavoj Žižek, Trouble in Paradise: From the End of History to the End of Capitalism

Friedrich Hölderlin
“But where the danger is, also grows the saving power.”
Friedrich Hölderlin

Marcus J. Borg
“A perception of empire is found in an early Christian acrostic. An acrostic is a word made up of the first letters of each word in a phrase or sentence. In this case, the phrase is an early Christian saying in Latin: radix omnium malorum avaritia. Radix means “root,” omnium means “all,” malorum means “evil,” and avaritia means “avarice” (or “greed”). Putting it together, it says, “Avarice (or greed) is the root of all evil.” And the first letters of each word produce Roma, the Latin spelling of Rome. It makes a striking point: Roma - empire - is the embodiment of avarice, the incarnation of greed. That’s what empire is about. The embodiment of greed in domination systems is the root of all evil.”
Marcus J. Borg, The Heart of Christianity: Rediscovering a Life of Faith
