AKR’s ‘you may want to marry my husband’ destroyed me. why do the purest loves always have to end. i hate cancer so much ;-;

until now i had been able only to grieve, not mourn. grief was passive. grief happened. mourning, the act of dealing with grief, required attention.

Read “the 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte”
Was interesting but at times a slog. I think I like pure philosophy more than historical philosophy. Will say it was cool that I can now understand the quoted French :D

read:
- marx on the history of his opinions
- discovering hegel
- to make the world philosophical

tbh I think I'm just oversaturated w philosophy today, so was sorta bored, but I do see the connections with hegel!!! "Aeolian harps (play) only when struck by the storm"

also kind of cute when marx said "it is in every respect, including that of style, the most beautiful letter I can imagine being written by a woman"

Beauty. No great secret. Not ashamed to say I loved him for his beauty. As I would again if he came near. Beauty convinces. You know beauty makes sex possible.

Time as a network good reminds me a lot of college, people often make themselves busier simply because the people around them are busy. Free time seems to have less worth if had alone, and also there seems to be some status in being less reachable than those around you.

But there is something heartbreaking about the nineteenth-century Massachusetts textile workers who told one survey researcher what they actually longed to do with more free time: To “look around to see what is going on.”
