The fifth story is my favorite so far - I loved it; the chance circumstances bringing disparate people together reminded me of L.M. Montgomery, and it had all the magic and hope a Christmas story needs.

The 4th novella was fun, unique, and interesting - appreciated the varied background and application of character growth

Third story felt forced and wasn't really well-written

Found the second story a bit trite and boring, ended up skimming a lot of it

First story was sweet but easy to put down and forget and it felt like it was a lot longer than it needed to be, including random parts that could have been skipped without hitting the story.

Okay, now I'm getting mad. HE tramps up into her mountain, makes her show him where his cows can get grass, then demands that she let his folks stay with her and her sisters AND lays claim to her grandfather's cabin? And we are supposed to like this guy?

So far, I like the concept, but am very annoyed with the main guy - who does he think he is, that he can tell Jo whether she can go or not, and assumes he knows better than her when she's been living in the woods her whole life? And stop grabbing her freaking wrist!

Story 4-The Prickly Pear Bride: cute and enjoyable. Romance advanced quickly but not so much as to be totally unbelievable, and liked the unique aspect of shepherding.
Story 5-The Widow of St. Charles Avenue: while a good story on the surface, I didn't really connect with the characters at all, and felt like the "bad" suitor was very typecast.

Story 3-The substitute husband....etc: other than the title being weirdly long, I really enjoyed this story. The romance took place at the right pace, and the characters were compelling. The ending seemed very abrupt though. It was like... Conflict, indecision, conflict, indecision, conflict-bam, everything's solved.

Story 2-Daughter of Orion: I liked this story much more than the first. The story was fun - I love a good girl-pretending-to-be-a-guy story -and the slow grow of affection was appealing and sweet. The only thing that bothered me was how fast the guy decided he loved her after finding out the truth. I mean, seriously...give it at least fifteen minutes.

Story 1-Love in the Crossfire: While I understand love stories must go faster in a short story collection, this one felt extremely rushed and sudden. One moment she was helping an enemy soldier, and the next she was kissing him. I just didn't really connect to either of the characters, though the story itself was sweet.
