Really interesting book, first experience w Murakami, so I didn’t know what to expect. I like the versatility of the book; interpretations are multiple. I do enjoy a good book about lack of self acceptance, of loss and fragmentation within yourself. I also love to read abt ppl who struggle to connect to the outer world more profoundly. I lean into the more metaphorical interpretation of the book.

I LOVE how detached rationality affected Louis’ sensitivity. You can really see it in the way he described the New Orleans of his time as if it is something so recent, and how affected he seems reflecting back, but with such a reserved, philosophical nature
