I procrastinated finishing this for so long that I now have to wait another 7 weeks before my turn at the library again.

I am enjoying it so far, though I have to facepalm at Abitha's lack of suspicion of the people who wish her harm!!

I can't believe it's taking me this long to read this, but I am going through major changes in my life the past few months. I also think I kinda dislike Raeve and that's why I'm reluctant to keep picking up this book to continue reading.

The size of this book have always been intimidating. 7% in and I'm enjoying how character driven it is. I liked seeing the world through JB's eyes and leaning more about Willem's family.

Glad that Annie finally caught on with what Sophie is. I wonder why the villagers are colder when Sophie is around. Is it purely because of who she is, or was there some sort of past between Sophie and everyone else? Also I found the conversation between Sophie and Annie the day Annie comes over for swimming to be weird and stilted. Does Sophie really not know who the ghosts are? I find that hard to believe.

I feel like I'm reading this book at a good time because I can relate to what Annie is going through. I love the cosy vibes of the small town, but I can't determine if it's always like this, or if it's because Annie is close to Sophie and getting this wonderful treatment.

Reading Paula's POV make me think of my own parents a lot, and what I may have missed or failed to see. It really makes me reflect on their sacrifice.
