This novella has kept me hooked, but EESH some of the 1960s language did NOT age well

It is taking all of my self restraint not to finish this entire book in one sitting (mostly because it is already way past my bedtime). The imagery is so rich, you can't help but want to read on.

Ugh, 130 pages until the PI in the "hardboiled detective novel" finally decided to investigate the mystery presented ...

To tell you that my jaw *dropped* when it was revealed that this city had never experienced coffee!

This evening I learned what it entails to consider "fence" as your occupation ...

Both Arrakis and the betrayal loom ...

And the stage has been set for the possession!

I'm literally only 5 pages in and already relating hard to the protagonist and her younger a**hole brother, because he sounds exactly like my younger a**hole brother.

Not the disposal of unstable spell books being compared to the disposal of hazardous nuclear waste 😂 And can we talk about the gods that are literally playing D&D with the protagonists?!

It has been delightful watching this insurance agent traverse a magical world as its first tourist, leaving chaos in his wake 😅

This book is a caver's dream - the author truly did her research! Nothing annoys me more in other books than when an author clearly has no idea how the equipment or processes work. Just cause it's sci-fi doesn't mean you can make *everything* up!

I really hope that Lord Kermit makes an appearance in "House of the Dragon" Season 2, if only in name 🐸

Ohhoho, well if it isn't our favorite enemies to lovers trope making an appearance ...

See?! Marie Curie was a workaholic too! Her section paints a very different tale than the woman that only ate champagne and oysters and woke up at 4pm in another section.
