Excited! I’ve been ploughing my way through a metric shit tonne of average books recently. So excited about this. Please don’t let me down Mariana!

OMG what is up with this book? Jory may look like an angel or whatever - but he floats through life making cups of tea, silly decisions and treating his ex-lovers like crap. Sam is a gas-lighting, controlling idiot who constantly says something and means another. Dean is a manwhore and commitment phobe. All the women are witches or mayflies for Jory's pretty pretty light. I think I'm going to throw in the towel.

Hmmm... teetering on a DNF. We've just hit some epic insta when Greer (predatory ken doll entrepreneur and wannabe activist) meets Dallas (really ridiculously good looking PT trying to launch his new company).

The constant brand name dropping is annoying me, Greer is giving me a bad taste in the mouth, and I'm trying to figure out how the hell these bikebro guys designed and manufactured their amazing gadgets.

Why on earth did I give this 5 stars or my last read (only 1.5 years ago)? Was I high? It’s currently 3 stars at best 🤔

Hmph. Enjoying this a lot less than book number 1. Bens voice would be interesting- but he’s so stuck in a morass of negative motivation it’s not enjoyable reading. It feels like he’s going through the motions with Hannah (not fair to anyone). Finally although Rafe can be a bit of a plonker - I do still love him and think he’s hilarious - so it’s hard reading about his struggles to get over Ben.

I've got this one on audiobook and BOY I AM STRUGGLING. I think this is one I should have got on the kindle instead. It's really not working for me in audiobook format (despite the narrator being excellent)

God I am not feeling this. Might be the fact this is the first time I’ve had a drink in like 1.5 years (yay motherhood). Mehhh

Urgh. Stuck a quarter of the way in. This one isn’t quite working for me and can’t figure out why (and whether I should give it another shot)

Hmm ... just realised I’ve been staring into nowhere for ten minutes hitting the next page button... this one really isn’t capturing my attention. Perhaps I’ve just read too many books in this midlife/menopause/magic trope and this one just feels like an amalgamation of all of those but with nothing extra special.

On the bio: “secrets flicker behind his eyes”. Crap - I have a feeling that this is going to end in tears (of time investment regret, not actual emotion). Sigh. Let’s see!

TJ - you are a priceless gem - at 10% I'm already in love with this book

Sigh. Not impressed so far. Two really really ridiculously good looking guys hook up for fun and will probably end up in wuve - but I’m not buying it. Their banter is shallow and forced, and I’m not feeling the romance at all. This doesn’t feel real or genuine, just a book written by a woman for women that happens to be about 2 men. Maybe I’ll be proved wrong.

Sigh. It’s obvious the MC has some serious makutu - all signs point toward it, hell multiple characters have told her to her face and it’s like “lalala I didn’t hear that”. The fact Cori still doesn’t acknowledge the obvious is irritating. On the plus side I’m finding the constant dandruff references amusing and the lgbtq rep is pretty good with a gay BFF and potential arom/pan MC.

Amazing... detailed (attention to detail in the world building is awe inspiring)... loooooong

Eighth way in and I’m loving this already - my first Susan C novel - please live up to the promise of the first few chapters 😁

My most hated book trends of right now :

* Reverse harem - just no. Seriously no. If I read another synopsis... get excited... then spot the ominous ‘RH’ acronym I’m going to scream

* hyphen-patronising book description - e.g. Wasted: a gritty, harrowing tale that will horrify you... Jeanie: a heart warming summer read. Vomit vomit. For f*ckssake people - it’s called a book synopsis
