god this book is so fatphobic and it's killing me.

This book keeps trying to sell me a "good", westernized Islam that aligns with French Values. At one point a character complains about mosques being built in France, like, in general... I'm so far in now I might as well finish it but man, really wish I'd looked up the author more before I started.

Was bothered by a passage on veils/hijab where it implies women who wear it - by choice or not - are fighting against progress and feminism. And while I understand it can be hard to decipher the difference when people are young, I doubt anyone would care if a teenage girl wore a cross or went to bible studies.
