Wow, im so early into this book and already have so many thoughts.
As someone who has grown up and transitioned in a world already shaped by Serano’s ideas, I really appreciate her preface in the 2016 release positioning this as a reaction to trans and feminist discourse in the early aughts.
I have yet to take issue with anything she’s posited so far - it is validating and refreshing to read.

This book is really good but its been hard for me to get into it because 1. Its emotionally difficult to follow up a book about war and genocide with, another book about war and genocide and 2. I really dislike the audiobook narrators tone and cadence.. but i do want to finish this!!!! Learning a lot about Guatemalan history

Probably going to finish tonight. Really appreciative of this authors knowledge not only as a researcher, but from his own life and loved ones. I’m finding the military history much more interesting than I ever thought I could

Very historically dense, specifically a lot of military history, and academic language. But it is scratching the history major section of my brain. Learning a lot about parts of the world I’ve been taught very little about. I’m so early in and its already so clear how much the world has failed Palestine, and how the genocide today is possible.
