In the chapter about the female anatomy and menstruation, you can definitely tell it was written by a man.
Also, some of the medical information does feel out of date and/or baseless (I'm fairly crunchy).

Alexis is 3% done with The Promised Prince (Desolation, #2)

I was a little confused until I realized this is set 10 years after the first book. They reference the betrothal between the prince and princess in book #1 when the princess is 10.
