Guys….. Am I gonna regret this?….

Just for some context on why I'm reading this book: I was hospitalized with the same exact brain injury as the author and was recommended this book a bunch of times. I'm planning on annotating anything accurate or inaccurate to my experience with my brain injury.

I dont think you can tell, but this book is taking an entire millennium to read and was so close to putting me in a reading slump. I honestly, at times, willingly chose to do my trig homework or like an analysis for Shakespeare for my English class over reading.

To sum it up: I'm 2/3rds of the way into the book, and barely anything interesting has happened. B a r e l y.

"well I guess you could say we're in quite a fix" yes francis. laughing about killing someone while doing some unexplained ancient greek ritual is quite the trouble. thanks for pointing that out.

i mean this in the nicest and best way possible: i dont understand the hype.

im starting to dislike the "dark academia greek major philosophy" aspect of the book. It's one thing to watch the characters learn it to add to the atmosphere, but a complete other to create an important plot point out of a sort of 'greek ideology' that is 2000 years old and hasn't been explained. I'm really not a fan of the plot.

im intrigued. but ill say, i cant worry about the wellbeing of a character who says slurs oop sorry

Ah the wild f slur. Didn't think I would encounter it 3 times in one page.

Serving very much 2010 basic “new person arrives to an academy or like school setting or whatever and sees a group of the ‘popular’ or like ‘well known/often pointed out’ kids and is like overly interested in them”. Like there’s so many coincidental and over used scenarios here, there’s even a scene that’s sorta like the scene in twilight where Bella sees the Cullens and is like “who’s that theyre so mysterious”.

Oh?

I haven’t been reading much because I got encephalitis but !! Hopefully my memory has gotten better and rehab has bettered me to allow me to be able to read more
