Now I had high hopes for this bc this author has done decent straight romance by my standards and this was in my wheelhouse of urban fantasy but regrettably the world building is mediocre the characters suck and the romance is that stereotypical straight hero complex BS I hate!

If I had a nickel for every time I was ready a novel where the protagonist befriended a speaking cat who had a long royal title but consented to a shorter nickname in June of 2026 I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s REALLY WEIRD it happened twice

How is it possible I’m reading two books where someone talking to the protagonist is unexpectedly crushed to death in the first 10 pages. That’s like…two nickels I guess but it’s weird it happened twice….weirder imho
