Very in-depth coverage of the United States- have read up to the Civil War and am enjoying (although only reading a chapter a day because it covers so much in a chapter, and chapter la are 30+ pages long).

I'm starting to get really annoyed by most of the characters.

Just finished The Mysteries of Udolpho (started it in September), and I did enjoy it. Lots of description, but also a lot of suspense from the spirits that haunted the characters in the story. I have four more novellas to read from this book, but am glad to have finished the main book in this set of stories

My first audiobook... Not sure I'm going to be a fan of audiobook formats...

Why do I feel like nothing important has happened the last several chapters?

Slogging through a lot of history on the German occupation of France. It's interesting, but it's difficult to keep track of all the names.

Starting to get bored with this...

I've been hitting some dry parts of the book- peasant/land owner disputes- but overall am enjoying it. Its just so long!
