I still really like this book, I’m glad I picked it from the library!

I love this so far! I grabbed this off of a library shelf at random but jt turned out to be a fun read so far. I like the themes of grief and how differently Cloudy and Kyle handle the death of Ashlyn, and the road trip to meet all the recipients of Ashlyn’s donated organs is sweet and compelling.

Started reading to prepare for the new AHS season premiering this month. I only planned on reading a bit, but it’s such a page-turner I couldn’t put it down for close to two and a half hours. I’m really interested in what’s gonna happen and how the stories of all the other women are eventually going to tie in.

Okay, I think I’m starting to really love this book, and not just for the setting (although it’s very much an attractive thing for me). I really enjoy TJR’s writing and how she puts together a story, it’s nothing short of inspirational to me.
Final thought—I’m predicting it now: Kit is a lesbian and I think Vanessa is too, and maybe they’ll get together

This is a very rough and very sad read, and I’m taking it very seriously. That said, I know that awful things like this happen in real life, but this story is starting to feel a little too melodramatic for me. I still love Jude and empathize with him, but the story is getting a little ridiculous. I’m going to finish it, but I really do hope it gets better.

Malibu Rising is a little underwhelming to me so far, but as a born-and-raised valley girl I appreciate how it depicts LA life. It’s easy to depict LA cynically: a shallow, toxic tar pit with an ocean view. But it’s also a place where families are made, where kids grow up, where real life happens. It’s not perfect but it’s my home and I’m happy TJR clearly did her homework and wrote about LA respectfully.

I was part of The Hunger Games craze when I was in middle school just like everyone else my age, so I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and revisit it as an adult. For whatever reason I remembered the writing being a lot sharper and punchier (nothing against Collins, the writing is still very good), but it’s very interesting to think about this story in the 2020s. That’s all I’ll say on that.

I was really iffy on this book starting off. It’s so long and such a slow read that it’s been difficult to keep my focus and continue reading. But now, days later and hundreds of pages behind me, I’m finally starting to come around on A Little Life. I always adored Jude, but I didn’t really care that much about any of the others until now. I’m really looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.
