Dull as dishwater.

I’m a boomer and try to keep my writing somewhat fresh. Classic themes with new insights. My daughter keeps me on my toes.
This so far is patchett resting on laurels. No great insights or modern themes, good prose but nothing great like mcewan. I’m plodding along.
Picked this up as it was a real signed copy where you could see the sharpie marks, not just a robo pen one or a bookplate.

Unfocused. Is this a memoir or a technical musical text or a diatribe or what?
So far he does appear to be laying the foundation for his premise in the title. Very slowly. Oh, and he goes on diatribes about western music and notation not capturing the vibe of Black music but denigrating it. A paragraph would be enough but chapters are full of it.
I’m slogging on.

Easy reading. A little clunky in the writing or translation after reading so many stand out books.

Humans are such narcissists! All about the humans very little about me the octopus.
Book is on pause.

Almost halfway and little octopus. The cleaning lady was injured so she’s not cleaning at the aquarium for now. So less octopus.
The cast of odd characters is kinda like a hiassen novel but not as good.
Where is this going?!
