Out of order, as I read chapter 3 first, but his arguments that all lives are actually very bad are atrocious. He goes well out of his way to manufacture ways of seeing life as negative. While his creativity is impressive, his convincingness is not.

Terrible so far. His views are MUCH worse than I thought, and so are his arguments. I cannot fathom being so pessimistic, eg "the quality of even the best lives is very bad". I had to pause reading it only 12 pgs in when his response to prioritizing parents with young children over non-parents for kidney donations bc it will help more people was that it "might be like increasing one's value by taking hostages."
