Not loving this but it looks like we may now be getting an interesting, romantic subplot.

There are interesting bits, but the writing style makes it a bit of a mess.

She begins with quotes from Zora Neale Hurston & Audre Lorde so we’re off to a great start!

I can see why a chapter on ‘Medieval Mistresses’ was included in a book about Medieval Heroines, but I absolutely, vehemently disagree with including Alice Perrers.
Everything I have read shows her to be a greedy, odious woman who was grossly manipulative of King Edward III and caused multiple conflicts within his household.

I still haven’t decided if I like this book or not, but I’m 3/4 of the way through so I suppose I shall have to finish it.
