Now that I’ve seen the spoiler on goodreads, I’m going to DNF. The romance is boring the tragedies are piling up and I don’t need the ending.

Ugggggg. This spicy romantic drivel is better suited for the YA-dragons. (Fourth Wing)
Struggle to finish. The problem with romance disguised as fiction is that you know the ending before it begins.

I wish I’d read the spoilers. The creepiness of this book is because the family secrets revolve around incest and sexual abuse of teen girls. I think I’m going to DNF this one.

Looking for a reason to keep going. This book doesn’t know what it wants to be, alternating between thriller and sappy rom-com with soft lips and quivering glances and a whole cast of potential villains who are boring boring boring.

I've fallen down this rabbit hole and may have read more than an hour at a time this weekend. I'm not sealing up my apartment or hoarding tape measures...yet.

It had me at teenaged assassin.

Meh. Too much telling not enough showing. I had the whole ‘plot’ figured out in chapter 2 and then listened to whole thing unfold in dialogue. Just dialogue.

This 5 star beginning has fizzled in 'Part 2'. The author fails to connect the disconnected plots. I'm trying so hard to finish. In audio the narrator does not help as she is devoid of emotion, sounds bored.

This is a commitment. Very dense, amazing, but waiting for the payoff. I trust Jay.

You know it's bad when in chapter one you're tired of listening to the victim and just root for them to die already.

Silliest easiest “beach read” I’ve ever stumbled upon. Nancy Drew was a far better junior detective than this helpless heroine.

I'm not sure if this is a memorial to an amazing ranger, a man-vs-nature story, a critique of the search and rescue efforts, a tribute to the Sierra Nevada wilderness-- or what. I wanted a Jon Krakauer and this is just average.

This book is giving me all the feels and I can tell it’s going to be a favorite and it better not break my heart!

I’m worried this might be another popular fandom I just don’t get. A lot of purple prose with a dreamy feel but I can’t care about the characters or the plot.

Earns this book a spot on a new shelf I’m starting this year called. the Sin Bin. Along with maiden heads and virginal sacrifices.

I’m DNFing this.
I gave it a chance. So much telling and not showing. So much time convincing me she’s an expert and really nothing much has happened yet. Most people who’ve seen or read a spy thriller would pick up on “interrogation techniques “ or cold drops and secret identities much faster.
I’m 50% in and bored.

The audible production isn’t great so that’s not helping it.

This seems very different for Sanderson. Almost too much like all other YA fantasy.
It also seems like an exact ripoff of Top Gun, but with girls and in outer space. Complete with main character solving the mystery of her dad-pilot’s bad reputation and legacy.
Quite unrealistic was the defensive battle they had to fight on day one of flight school.
Hoping Sanderson pulls put something new in the second half.

This is so profound and thought -provoking. Can’t put it down! Truly a modern To Kill a Mockingbird!
