I thought the writing of the characters was so curt and shallow but then I realized that this is what the narrator’s perspective is. No deep feelings and just going through the motions of life. Is he lonely or just shallow? Did his sexual experience as a teen and time in the military make him jaded? I like to think the later otherwise wood be mad that it win the Pulitzer.
