The Hunger Games was what got me into YA when I was 15, and it's one of the few series from that time that actually held up as an adult. I put off reading the prequel until now for two reasons: 1) the disappointment many people voiced when it first came out, and 2) the world already feels like living in a dystopia. Luckily, I've somehow managed to avoid (or forget about) most spoilers.

'But I have to find my own life here, and sometimes the things you taught me just don't seem to fit with how everyone else thinks. Sometimes the things you taught me don't seem to work here. But I'm trying.'

Make it five times I've cried over this book

I've cried four times already and I'm not even halfway through the book. With how it's going, by the time I get to the final ROTE book, I'll probably be crying non stop.

Plot-wise, these were some ostrich-sized easter eggs regarding the Bingtown traders, i genuinely didn't expect that.

Also finally someone has talked some sense into Fitz, it's been long overdue... Although knowing him, it won't last long lol

Ughh the art in this volume is so bad 🤮

This is *quite* the change in tone from The Sword of Kaigen lol

I feel like I'm losing the momentum with this book since I'm reading it in 20-30 page chunks, and it feels like the kind of book I'd need to binge in order to love 😕

Talyien is so dramatic, I adore her 😂

I'm really enjoying this book so far, hopefully it will continue

'Tis a long read

I'm both excited and sad that the end of the trilogy is so near; at least there's 13 more books set in the same world 😄

Now that's a twist 😱 On the negative side, it comes along with another character death that I didn't care about 😑 I just feel like the side characters are not very fleshed out

A promising start to a book I've been anticipating for months; I hope it lives up to the early reviews!
